Stefanie Wienkoop is Professor at the University of Vienna and leader of the Plant-Microsymbiont Interaction group. Since her PhD in 2000 (Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany) she is working in the field of plant proteomics. Besides being involved in the development of several mass spectrometry based techniques such as shotgun nanoLC-MS, the Mass Western and metabolic labelling strategies; her major focus are in understanding the role of membrane- and symbio-proteins, crucial for legume-rhizobium symbiosis and proteins involved in induced systemic resistance. SW published more than 100 paper in the field of plant proteomics (84 peer-reviewed). She is Associate Editor for Frontiers in Plant Proteomics and Protein Structural Biology and Frontiers in Molecular Systems Biology. She is co-founder of the Austrian Plant Phenotyping Network and currently president of the InPPO.
